New York City, New York, February 13, 2019
With New York Fashion Week wrapped up for the Fall/Winter 2019/2020 season in New York City, rumours have spread of New York Fashion Week dying with each season. Being one of the busiest times of the times of year for key industry figures, celebrities, actors, models, influencers, bloggers, editors, and designers, they are finally getting the break that they deserve.
From attending exclusive shows from Taoray Wang, Hakan Akkaya, Son Jung Wan, Nonie, Indonesian Diversity, Chromat, Afffair, Bibhu Mohapatra, Alice and Olivia, Tibi, Cynthia Rowley, Badgley Mischka, and many more shows to networking to taking photos, influencers and bloggers are redefining New York Fashion Week and keeping it alive with each season that goes by.
With major designers such as Alexander Wang, Proenza Schouler, Rodarte, and Altuzarra leaving New York Fashion Week, new room has been made for emerging designers to showcase their talented collections. With this, comes the rise of the importance of influencers. Influencers are redefining New York Fashion Week by attending the runway shows and sharing the talented collections with their audience. As long as their love for New York Fashion Week lasts and the importance of this time of year strives, New York Fashion Week itself will continue to thrive.
“I love New York Fashion Week. There’s no place like it. It has a special magic. The people, the places, the streets. I adore New York City. The shows have been amazing. The organization has been excellent. Being a blogger is not an easy job. I keep working each season to be better, to make a better job and being here in NY its a great way of knowing I am doing a great job,” shares singer, influencer and fashion blogger Marre (María del Rosario Gómez).
Influencer and entrepreneur, Summer YL shares, “As an entrepreneur in marketing as well as an influencer in fashion, I see fashion week inside out and from the behind scene to the front row. After attending the shows for 3 years, my marketing agency NuWa Marketing produced two influencer campaigns for international clients from China during NYFW this season. As an influencer, it’s the first time I’m getting paid to sit in the front row. It’s hectic and overwhelming, but it’s very rewarding experience after all.”
Being an influencer and blogger during New York Fashion Week is a full time job. As it is a hectic time for influencers due to the hard work they put in, the rumours spread of fashion week dying is proven by influencers to not be true. Thousands of influencers fly into New York City just to attend New York Fashion from all parts of the globe. It is the peak time for influencers to network and to get their names into the industry.
Key networking events included WWD’s Style Dimension by Women’s Wear Daily, The Daily Front Row Party, and Aveda’s New York Fashion Week After Party.
Editor for Bella Magazine and Micro-Blogger, Jonathan Calixto says, ”The fun part about fashion is that there are so many different roles you can take on. Especially working in Public Relations, as an Editor, and Micro-Blogger, New York Fashion Week is the perfect time to mingle, network and do it all in style.”
“New York Fashion Week is always filled with adrenaline. We’re moving, we’re running, we’re meeting people. It’s a time we get to enjoy and celebrate fashion together with likeminded people,” shares model, influencer, and actor Jessica Markowski.
“My Friday was the craziest. I literally had six runway shows and three after parties in one day. I don’t know how I did it, but I sure did it. I had three outfit changes and went to all of the events. I am so proud of myself and it was totally worth it,”
“This is honestly one of the my favorite times of the year. Sure, famous designers may be leaving, but it is allowing new designers to enter the market. It’s a learning experience. We are able to see fashion from different cultures during this time of the year here in the heart of New York City. I love seeing how different fashion is all around the globe,” says actor, influencer and fashion blogger Urszula Makowska.
With New York Fashion Week being the peak time to network, it has proven to be the lifetime experience and the learning experience for influencers. It is the time influencers are able to see new emerging designers from all parts of the world by simply attending.
“I find it very interesting attending shows compared to just modeling in them because I am able to get in the mind of the audience and see what they see. I enjoy being on both sides of the stage. I also attended the Lion and Lamb gala which was showcasing their fashion show. The proceeds went towards the WeAreDream youth organisation. I especially favoured this event because it gives back to the community and makes a difference not only in the fashion industry but also in the lives of the less fortunate,” says influencer and agency signed model from Click Model Management, Laura Arumugam.“
