Christmas is coming and if you’re looking for a more unusual present, a shellfish masterclass or crab book could be just perfect.

Northfleet author and shellfish expert Rosemary Williams has teamed up with the Whitstable Oyster Company to kickstart her 2019 masterclasses.

The 3-hour master class involves you having your own oysters to work with, following the instruction from Rosemary and working your way through the preparation using her family’s methods, passed down to her.

The masterclasses are peppered with top tips and fascinating family history with plenty of opportunity to ask questions and feel confident of being able to prepare shellfish again after the masterclass.

At the end, you will enjoy a meal together with Rosemary adding the drinks and pudding.

They will be on Friday 23 January and Friday 30 January 18.00 – 21.00 with places costing £67 each.

Rosemary will also be running masterclasses for lobster, crab, whelks, scallops, mussels, winkles, clams and cockles throughout the year for those who prefer to work with another shellfish.

Her book is also available for £10; Prep That Fish – Crab, which takes you through the method to prepare a crab and make sure there is no shell but all the meat is removed.
