Pink Lady® has teamed up with local Kent running club Beginners2Runners for its 12th year of involvement in the Virgin Money London Marathon. Six selected runners from the group will face the 26.2 mile challenge, dressed in the iconic apple costume, to raise vital funds for renowned children and families charity, Dandelion Time.
Kent-based charity, Dandelion Time, works with vulnerable children and families experiencing behavioural and emotional difficulties, often as the result of trauma, abuse and neglect. The charity, based on a small peaceful farm near Maidstone, aims to combat these issues by delivering a practical farm-based therapeutic programme to help those affected build confidence, self-esteem and a new skill set to contribute towards a brighter future.
The charity has seen public endorsements from local MP Helen Whateley and broadcast naturalist Chris Packham.
Agnès Reading, Head of Fundraising at Dandelion Time, commented: “Our service relies heavily on the support from our community, so we are thrilled that Beginners2Runners, in association with Pink Lady®, has chosen to donate to our charity ahead of the London marathon.
“Our Do it for Dandelion initiative allows the local community to assist the charity in a variety of ways. You can fundraise by making a donation, organising events, purchasing our cards and homewares or setting yourself various challenges.”
“We are hugely grateful to everyone for their generous and continued support. The talent, commitment and passion that lives within Dandelion Time is thanks to our supporters and those who give their time and resources to make a difference to the lives of others.”
About Pink Lady®
A Pink Lady® apple is the first to blossom on the tree and the last to be harvested by hand. From ‘pip to perfection’, only the very best pass the rigorous inspection tests to receive the Pink Lady® classification. This time on the tree helps Pink Lady® apples to develop their unique fizz, distinctive blush, sweet flavour and crunchy texture.
Pink Lady® apples are also packed with goodness – they are a natural source of energy and a single apple supplies a quarter of your day’s vitamin C. In addition, you’ll find boron to keep your bones strong, and pectin, which helps your body digest food more efficiently. What’s more, with an average 100g Pink Lady® apple containing about 50 calories, they’re the perfect ingredient or snack for a healthy lifestyle. For more information visit pinkladyapples.co.uk
The Pink Lady® trademarks are registered by Apple and Pear Australia Limited (APAL) in more than 80 territories worldwide and reserved for the exclusive use of licensees.

About Dandelion Time
Established in 2003, Dandelion Time is a charitable project for children and young people traumatised by abuse, neglect or having early life attachment difficulties. Children may be displaying emotional distress through aggressive or withdrawn behaviour, their issues having led to conflict at home and withdrawal or exclusion from school.
Dandelion Time provides practical farm-based developmental activities and a therapeutic service to help children overcome past suffering, develop in confidence and self-esteem and discover a new and positive path to follow. They aim to improve each child’s emotional wellbeing and resilience so they are better able to lead full and happy lives and be a positive force within their communities as they enter adulthood.
