A lot can be said for how your first role shapes the rest of your career.
And leading property and interiors expert, Sarah Beeny, can certainly relate to that – having revealed that she owes so much to a company called Vorwerk.
The TV star first worked for German home appliance maker, Vorwerk, at the tender age of 19.
She enjoyed her time there so much that she has since re-joined the team as its brand ambassador.
Rolling back the years to 1991 when Sarah was – she admits – not as confident a direct sales advisor as she was when she left Vorwerk, Sarah built up her confidence and worked hard to earn her stripes by selling the company’s high-quality vacuum cleaner through in-home demonstrations.

There’s also a further 10 Vorwerk vacuums being used on a daily basis at the stunning Rise Hall – a Grade II listed venue she and husband Graham Swift saved from dereliction following her programme ‘Sarah Beeny’s Restoration Nightmare’.
The star of TV’s Four Rooms, Double Your House for Half the Money, and How to Live Mortgage Free has been an advocate of Vorwerk for more than 20 years since working as a sales advisor. She positively attributes the experience gained while working at Vorwerk as a real enabler in her career ever since.
Not only did it help improve her self-assurance, she also believes that it has made her much more resilient and taught her the all important value of perseverance – something that anyone starting out in a career on TV needs. It gave her the confidence to deal with people from all walks of life – especially when selling to the Duchess of Wellington.
