Working with both Hilary and Sue to look for a potential buyer for this magazine as their circumstances and aspirations changed was exciting.
As the time passed one thing became very evident; KWIB has an amazing reach into the hearts of women who work in Kent. Hilary and Sue’s passion and commitment for Kent and business was demonstrable. As the three of us worked more closely together, I realised what an amazing opportunity running this magazine could be, and one I had to embrace.
If I was told this time last year that I would be Editor-in-Chief of KWIB I would never have believed it, but as our first new cover suggests we are ‘More than just’. Each and every one of us are more than just Kent Women in Business (KWIB); we are wives, sisters, mums, packedlunch makers, dog walkers, family chefs, bill payers, home cleaners, child taxi services, and also avid pourers of wine! Amongst all that (organised) chaos if you ever find 5 minutes, I want this magazine to be what you reach for. Full of exciting content that helps you be great at work, happy at home, confident in yourself, motivated to achieve, laughing in life, in fact I want you to be ‘More than just…’
Once I reaslied the task ahead, the fun only began when Paul Bailes, MD of Cohesion Marketing by Design, also loved the idea and joined forces with me and Dice Matrix, my Insight & Research business, coming together to create Codice Media. We realised together we can take this magazine from its incredible foundations and build something special.
I hope you like the new feel, new look magazine which will be very lifestyle focused with a business twist. Exciting new features every quarter, regular appearances and thought provoking columns on fashion, health and business opportunity. KWIB will be the must have read for every working woman. Our new website will bring you the opportunity to gain advice and vlog or blog to ask questions to our board of mentors. The new KWIBY (Kent Women in Business Youth) will work to support new talent coming into the working environment and nurture jobs, opportunities and apprenticeship schemes, and that is just the start.
Our mission statement hangs on the wall in our office with pride but ultimately to summarise we want to bring you the best of business every quarter. Enjoy, and please let us know what you think by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. Most importantly subscribe now at kwib.co.uk; you won’t regret it for only £19 a year including P&P… less than the cost of a bottle of wine, and if you’re anything like me it will last much longer!!!
