The Hosts story:
I’m not going to lie to you, the thought of a vacuum demonstration didn’t fill me with the joy of spring (or spring cleaning!) I had read so many good things about this product I had to see it for myself and seeing really is believing! So, Dean, who runs the Kent team at Vorwerk came over to my house, I had invited a few neighbours, and my Mum (my Dad came too, he heard there was going to be cake & coffee).

For those of you who know me, you will know I am house proud so not running a vacuum around before everyone arrived nearly sent me over the edge, but I managed it – just! Dean came, he was charming but most of all really informative. The demo was great, easy, quick and the stain of Blackcurrant my daughter had made only that week was gone, but more impressively was a small black mark on my wonderful cream carpet which has been eyeballing me since our Christmas party was gone too. I am not exaggerating when I tell you I have tried everything to remove that with no success, Dean and his magical powers of Vorwerk made it literally vanish!

This is no ordinary Vacuum, it cleans glass, windows, tables, solid stone floor, it vacuums, it removes hair from anything and it is so very, very light you can throw it around like an empty pillowcase, it has the look of Eva from the Disney Wall-e animation and it purrs like a quiet cat, not a huge powerful machine. I was reluctant initially about hosting the demo – but it was a great session and as I said at the beginning of this article, I’m not going to lie to you: this vacuum is not cheap, but I wouldn’t expect it to be. I have bought many vacuums over the past years, all slightly more useless than the last. I will buy this vacuum, I have to save for it first but I WILL own one. Dean left ‘Eva’ with me so I could use if for a few days afterwards, I wanted to check it wasn’t just his ability to demonstrate it so well that made me want one. I used it every day – I actually found an excuse to use it on the last day. I tried to avoid Deans calls, not because I didn’t want to talk to him, but because I didn’t want to arrange collection. I vacuumed this past weekend with my old vacuum, the joy has gone, the job has again become a chore ……. I would take this as a birthday present, to actually put in writing that I would be happy if I got a vacuum for my next gift feels alien to me, but it’s true. If you haven’t tried this system yet I implore you to, don’t pay for a cleaner, use this instead it will earn its keep within months. However, if you want a flexible job go work for Dean, not only is he lovely but you get a vacuum as a demo ………. Oh, idea ……. would they know if I used it myself every week ….. ?!?

The Sales man’s side:
I must confess to feelings of trepidation when the letters OBE were first uttered to me, not my usual gig for a demonstration, but hey, what’s the worst that could happen?

So the day arrives and there I stood with thoughts of a stiff upper lip and someone almost regal inviting me in. To my delight, a nicely presented, girl next door type greeted me, she even spoke like me, uttering those magic words “I’ll stick the kettle on then shall I?” Such a relief, nervous tension gone, formalities undertaken and the world is good.

Susannah had invited her Mum, Dad and a couple of her parents’ close friends along to appraise my mighty Kobold VK200. I was confident they were all in for an educational and entertaining sixty minutes and would enjoy the participation, as is always the case. Seeing a 50 year old man prancing around like Julian Clary doing the vacuuming, is in my opinion something to behold.

From the waterless window cleaning system, to the DuoClean that mops and vacuums at the same time, they ooo’d, from the VK200 upright, and the polsterboy tool for the stairs to the carpet dry cleaner, they ahh’d.

Right on cue and in all the usual places, my audience were wowed!

It never fails to amaze me how people react when they see the Kobold. Seeing really is believing!

With most of the ladies present being of a mature age, they took it in turns to climb and clean the stairs, their shocked expressions at just how easy a task it was made me smile.

Susannah loved the SP530 DuoClean for her beautiful stone hard floors, mopping and vacuuming simultaneously is such a time and effort saving invention and the only one of its kind.

We had coffee, we had banter, we had moments of wow, shock and horror, but all in a very positive and enlightening way.

Best of all, we had fun and there are now five more people who experienced the lasting impression the Kobold gives. A machine I’m sure, that is at the very top of their must have list.

I would like to thank Susannah for being such a down to earth and gracious hostess, and to her friends and family, it really was a delight.

Happy Kobold Cleaning
